What is the Four Strand Garland?

by @ 11:16 pm. Filed under Uncategorized. [add to del.icio.us]

A pretty good summary of the Four Strand Garland can be found on this site: Prayer Resources–Prayer: Luther’s Way of Praying

The way I practice it is to ask the following questions in prayer, and respond in writing. (Actually, I use a digital voice recorder to avoid the distractions of writing or typing. I type the responses later.)

The Four Strand Garland

1. In what ways has God been present to you this week?

2. What has God reminded you of this week that you are thankful for?

3. In what ways has God called you to confession this week?

4. In what ways has God provided guidance to you this week?

My goal is to do this every week. I don’t always succeed at that. And not every week’s responses are worth sharing. But the ones I feel are worthwhile will be here.
