Last year I set an overly ambitious goal to read 100 books. I knew that was probably impossible, but I thought that by really plowing through the stacks of unread books here, I could reduce the backlog. I managed to read 94 books during the year—a lot more than I really expected. Unfortunately, I kept buying more books. So, I didn’t make much of a dent in the backlog. Oh, well. I’m trying the same thing this year. In fact, I intend to make this an annual commitment—to read 100 books a year until I’m too old to see. Then I guess I’ll have to get someone to read them to me. OK, here we go again . . .
